Mirfield used to be a busy bustling town of trade and industry. The local people of Mirfield didnt need to go further afield to get whatever they needed. But times changed and things moved on. Big chainstores started supplying everything from flowers to food to televisions and due to the big buying power of these mega companies the smaller shops couldnt compete and started to close down.
Recent years have seen a turnaround in public opinion and and buying habits. The local people have started to see that buying local is better. For one thing, its local. Why travel further to get what you need when you can get it in your local town and support your local shop or business owner. And in many cases what you are getting is a better quality product.
Remember the more you stay loyal to your town, the more shops will open and the better the town will become.
